Who national experts predict will win Washington Commanders at KC Chiefs game

As a kid, Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones really didn’t dream of playing on “Monday Night Football.” Heck, he thought basketball was more his speed

“You’d see these players get hit by Ray Lewis, and I was like, ‘Nah,’” Jones said.

But Jones later embraced football, and boy, are Chiefs fans happy. And now he is glad he and his teammates are playing on Monday.

“It’s a very, very, very fortunate situation as a team, as an organization, to be able to play on ‘Monday Night Football,’” Jones said. “I mean, we have a lot of people who love to watch us play, so that’s very fortunate for us and the organization.”

The Chiefs, 3-3, will play host to Washington at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. and the game will air on KMBC (Ch. 9) in Kansas City along with ESPN. Who will win the game? Here’s what 62 national NFL experts are saying.

A 30-20 Chiefs win is the prediction from the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac. This is a passage from his story: “In the past two games, the Chiefs have looked their old Super Bowl selves. Their dominance of the Raiders last week is something not often seen in the NFL.”

The Chiefs will win 31-20, says Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press. Here is part of what he wrote: “After three losses in four games, the Commanders are looking to 2regain their balance. Bad time to meet up with the Chiefs, who are looking like the same old explosive Kansas City squad.”

A 31-17 Chiefs victory is the outlook from the Sporting News’ Bill Bender. This is from his story: “The Commanders’ season has turned for the worse, and they were 0-4 S/U when giving up 24 points or more. That’s a bad omen against a Kansas City-offense is clicking around Patrick Mahomes II.”

A 33-20 Chiefs win is the prediction from the Arizona Republic’s Jeremy Cluff. This is part of what he wrote: “These teams are heading in opposite directions, with Washington having lost two straight and Kansas City having won two straight. The gap will widen on Monday Night Football.”

Taking the Chiefs are the eight writers at CBS Sports: Pete Prisco, Ryan Wilson, Cody Benjamin, Jared Dubin, John Breech, Tyler Sullivan, Dave Richard and Jamey Eisenberg. Prisco thinks the Chiefs prevail 37-21. Here is part of what he wrote: “The Commanders are banged up and will once again be without Jayden Daniels (hamstring) in this one. They are also out on the road for a second straight week against a team that is getting better by the week.”

The Chiefs are the choice for the five writers at NFL.com: Ali Bhanpuri (30-17 final score), Brooke Cersosimo (32-23), Dan Parr (31-17), Gennaro Filice (38-17) and Tom Blair (30-16). Here is a snippet of what Cersosimo wrote: “The Chiefs have quickly become the scariest team in the NFL once again, winning four of their last five games after beginning the campaign 0-2. Patrick Mahomes is playing insanely well right now. He leads the NFL in with 18 total touchdowns and just got his offense back to full strength — most notably Rashee Rice, who returned and scored two TDs last week after missing the majority of last year with an injury and serving a six-game suspension to open this season.”

The Chiefs are the choice for the six USA Today writers: Jarrett Bell (34-20 final score), Nick Brinkerhoff (34-17), Chris Bumbaca (28-14) Nate Davis (31-17), Tyler Dragon (28-20) and Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz (34-21).

Picking the Chiefs are the seven Sports Illustrated writers: Albert Breer, Clare Brennan, Mitch Goldich, Conor Orr, John Pluym, Gilberto Manzano and Matt Verderame.

A Chiefs victory is the prediction from the Pro Football Talk writers. Mike Florio has KC winning 31-20, while Chris Simms sees it being 31-21.

The Chiefs are the choice for the 11 ESPN experts: Stephania Bell, Mike Clay, Dan Graziano, Kalyn Kahler, Moses Moody, Lindsey Thiry, Matt Bowen, Jeremy Fowler, Pamela Maldonado, Jason Reid and Seth Wickersham.

The Chiefs will win, say all 10 Dallas Morning-News members: Tim Cowlishaw, Joey Hayden, Joseph Hoyt, Damon Marx, Craig Miller, Newy Scruggs, Calvin Watkins, Abraham Nudelstejer, Dana Larson and Kevin Sherrington.

Picking the Chiefs are the nine SB Nation writers: Mookie Alexander, James Dator, Chet Gresham, Jared Mueller, R.J. Ochoa, Ricky O’Donnell, Mark Schofield, Nick Simon and Mark Warren.
