Everton are working on a deal to lure Liverpool academy manager Alex Inglethorpe across the city to their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton have made significant changes behind the scenes since the start of the summer. They have brought in Nick Cox, James Smith, Chris Howarth, and Nick Hammond to form the Merseyside club’s new leadership quartet.
The Toffees have taken significant steps to strengthen their leadership structure since moving to Hill Dickinson Stadium, and they are now looking to add another big name to the mix.
According to a report from Football Insider, Everton are plotting a raid on rivals Liverpool as they look to bring their academy manager, Alex Inglethorpe, to the club. The Merseyside outfit are working hard to lure him, and it would be seen as a huge coup if they manage to strike a deal with him.
While Everton are making a strong push to secure the services of the highly regarded 53-year-old, it would still come as a major surprise if they manage to pull it off, given the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.
Everton’s new look leadership group
Back in June, the Merseyside club underwent a major overhaul in their leadership structure. They decided to move away from the director of football model in favour of a more wide-ranging leadership team. Cox came in from Manchester United to be their new technical director, and Smith came in from Manchester City to oversee the scouting and recruitment.
Meanwhile, Howarth and Hammond have taken over football strategy and player trading responsibilities, respectively. Now they want to bring in Inglethorpe to further strengthen their leadership group. Given the kind of work he has done at Liverpool, the Toffees believe he could be just the perfect fit for them.
The 53-year-old has been working at Anfield since 2012, and a decision to part ways with them certainly won’t be easy for him. More importantly, having spent well over a decade at Liverpool, it will certainly be a massive surprise if he agrees to join their arch-rivals.
