The San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams all have needs to address ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline and the Tennessee Titans have three players available who could help them out.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Titans are entertaining trade calls for tight end Chig Okonkwo, cornerback Roger McCreary and outside linebacker Arden Key ahead of the trade deadline next week.
Just in case you were wondering, Schefter adds that rookie quarterback and No. 1 pick Cam Ward and star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons are not on the block.
"The Titans are willing to listen to trade offers on players such as tight end Chig Okonkwo, cornerback Roger McCreary and outside linebacker Arden Key, sources told ESPN," Schefter reported on Saturday.
The Titans should be open to a fire sale to acquire draft capital after a dreadful first half of the season that has led to a 1-7 record and now-former head coach Brian Callahan getting fired after a season-plus.
Okonkwo, McCreary and Key are all in the final year of their respective contracts and are unlikely to factor into Tennessee's long-term plans, so they are logical candidates to be traded.
A former second-round pick, McCreary once showed a ton of promise, but he's in the midst of a down season. Perhaps a change of scenery will help McCreary, who is a versatile option with his ability to play inside and out.
Key will no doubt be an intriguing option for edge rusher-needy teams. The veteran has posted six or more sacks three times during his career and is sitting with 1.5 through five contests.
Okonkwo is a dynamic athlete who is capable of boosting a passing attack, although he has had trouble reaching his full potential with the perennially disastrous quarterback situation in Tennessee during his career.
The 49ers have a massive need along the edge after losing Nick Bosa for the season due to a torn ACL. San Francisco is tied for the second-fewest sacks in the NFL and failed to register a single one against one of the worst offensive lines in the sport in Week 8. Making matters worse, Bryce Huff, the team's sacks leader, is hurt.
So, it comes as no surprise that rumors have linked the Niners to interest in an edge rusher, which puts them in play for a trade for Key, who has already spent time in San Francisco.
The Lions have needs at both cornerback and edge rusher. Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed are injured, and even their backups are hurt. The Lions' pass-rush has been better than expected, but they could still use more depth behind Al-Quadin Muhammad and Aidan Hutchinson with Marcus Davenport on the shelf.
Like the Niners, the Lions have been mentioned in trade rumors surrounding edge rushers, and the team reportedly has its eye on the cornerback market, also. Both Key and McCreary would be welcomed additions.
The Rams could have interest in both McCreary and Chig. The injury to Ahkello Witherspoon leaves Los Angeles needing more help in the cornerbacks room and Los Angeles could use another playmaker at tight end given the lackluster production the Rams have gotten from the position this season.
Similar to the Lions, Los Angeles has been mentioned as a suitor for a cornerback trade, and speculation has run rampant about the Rams possibly adding a tight end.
With everything we know, don't be surprised if the Titans strike a deal with one or more of the three teams.
