Manchester City’s Khiara Keating sat down with City in the Community (CITC) for a about National Mentoring Day.
The City star spoke with CITC Mentoring Coach, Aadi, reflecting on what it was like growing up in Manchester and how important the mentors in her life have been.
Speaking on advice she would give to other young people in Manchester, Khiara said:
“It’s important to always have that self-belief, knowing that you’re good enough.
“If I can do it, a little kid from Ardwick, then anyone can do it.”
Reflecting on his discussion with Khiara, Aadi said:
“It was a great to discuss the work that CITC does whilst also hearing about Khaira’s upbringing in Manchester, which a lot of kids can relate to.
“It’s important to highlight days like these as it allows us to share the work that the Mentoring department do.”

CITC’s Mentoring programme is aimed at young people aged 8-23 at risk of serious youth violence, and criminality, alongside young people who need extra support and guidance.
The provision is accessed through direct referrals from a number of different pathways, which allows the mentoring to be adapted to each individual’s needs, creating a bespoke plan targeted to each participant.
Falling under CITC’s Healthy People pillar, the programme aims to nurture people by putting physical and mental wellbeing at the centre of the programmes.
