COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — NFL analyst Rex Ryan offered a very emotional response to news of [the death of former Ohio State football star Nick Mangold](https://abc6onyourside.com/sports/the-football-fever/new-york-jetsnick-mangold-dies-41-kidney-disease-woody-johnson-tributes-ring-of-honor-hall-of-fame-ohio-state-pro-bowl-all-pro-legendary-center-football-news-2025#).
Mangold died of kidney disease over the weekend.
Mangold was a center for the Buckeyes and for the NFL's New York Jets, and was coached by Ryan during his time in New York.
"It's brutal, such a great young man," Ryan began his remarks on ESPN on Sunday.
