Green Bay Packers, Jordan Love receive message from Brett Favre after 35-25 over Aaron Rodgers, …

The Green Bay Packers, for the first time since Bart Starr was their starting quarterback in 1970, won a game on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Playing on Sunday Night Football, Jordan Love led the Packers to a 35-25 victory over his legendary predecessor, Aaron Rodgers, and the Steelers.

Both quarterbacks played well in what was one of the most anticipated games of the entire 2025 NFL season. Rodgers, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, completed 24 of 36 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Love, who sat behind Rodgers for two seasons (after spending his rookie year on the practice squad) completed 29 of 37 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns.

After the game, Love was showered with praise by his teammates for how well he has risen to the challenge of upholding the high standard of quarterback play in Green Bay. He also received a nice message from Rodgers’ own predecessor, Brett Favre.

Of course, Love has had to fill some pretty large shoes in Green Bay, with the two quarterbacks that preceded him being Favre, and Hall of Famer, and Rodgers, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer.

His stellar performance against Rodgers, his mentor, which included an impressive 20 consecutive completed passes, garnered some praise from Favre, too, on social media:

Over the course of the last couple of years, Rodgers has passed Favre in several all-time passing categories. With the Packers’ win on Sunday night, though, Favre likely will retain one record over his predecessor.

Had the Steelers come out victorious, Rodgers would have joined Favre as one of just a handful of quarterbacks to defeat every NFL team during his career. Green Bay, of course, remains the only team Rodgers has not beat.

Favre defeated the Packers twice during the 2009 season while he was the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers led Green Bay to two victories over the Favre-led Vikings in 2010, however.
