Chelsea saw their four-game unbeaten streak ended at the weekend via a shock 2-1 home Premier League loss to Sunderland.
Enzo Maresca's side looked set to hold on for a draw against the Black Cats before Wilson Isidor popped up with late for Regis Le Bris' visitors at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Blues will have little time to recover, ahead of an EFL Cup Round of 16 trip to Wolves on October 29.
Wolves were also denied by a late weekend winner, as Vitor Pereira's side lost out to Burnley at Molineux, meaning they remain the only top-flight side without a Premier League win so far this season.
Maresca won both games against Wolves in his debut 2024/25 campaign in charge with an aggregate score of 9-3.

Maresca will make wholesale changes, based on Chelsea's narrow win at Lincoln City in the previous round, and a packed schedule this month.
Filip Jorgensen should rotate in as Maresca's starting goalkeeper with a fresh defence including Malo Gusto, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana and Jorrel Hato.
Facundo Buonanotte, Estevao and Jamie Gittens could also be given a chance with Tyrique George placed as a central attacker.
