Bucs GM Jason Licht.
The Bucs have a mess of injuries and a real shot at the Super Bowl.
Should they sit on their hands and hope for healing, or should they go get a player or two?
Today, Todd Bowles sounded like a man eager for a new body — at the right price.
What Bowles and those above him on the Bucs’ food chain believe a smart price is, Joe has no idea.
“I think the discussion is more of how much do you have to give up to get somebody that you really want. That’ll be the discussions more or less going forward,” Bowles said. “We feel like guys, hopefully guys can come back. But at the same time, if there’s something out there that’s available, and depending on whether you gotta rob Peter to pay Paul, then we gotta weigh those options.”
Yeah, yeah, Joe knows the Bucs want to be responsible when it comes to chasing a talent that can help them win a Super Bowl. Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht is in charging of building a lasting contender, not gambling on long shots.
However, Joe knows the Bucs will be honoring the 25th anniversary of their Super Bowl team. There was no event celebrating the 1999 team that lost in the NFC Championship game.
The NFL is an entertainment business and fans love and respect when their team plays to win. Joe hopes the Bucs don’t lose sight of that.
