This is Peterson’s second DWI arrest in 2025. In April, he was arrested in Minnesota after leaving a Vikings draft party.

Adrian Peterson’s Story of Greatness Overshadowed by Legal and Financial Troubles
Peterson has had multiple run-ins with the law both during and after his NFL career. In June 2025, reports surfaced of Peterson being involved in a fistfight over a poker game in Houston. No police report was filed for this incident.
He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault in Texas for slapping a woman in a domestic assault in 2024.
He had two warrants issued in December 2024 for his arrest in Fort Bend County, Texas, after failing to appear in court for two separate child support cases.
He was arrested in February 2022 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) following a “verbal and physical altercation” with his wife, Ashley Peterson, on a plane.
While charges were initially considered, they were ultimately dropped. The NFL also suspended him in 2014 for disciplining his four-year-old son with a switch. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault.
A Houston judge ordered Peterson to surrender assets to cover a debt exceeding $12 million. This ruling, made in September 2024, followed a request from a court-appointed receiver aiming to seize property from Peterson’s home in Missouri City, Texas.
In Texas, a first-time DWI conviction can result in up to 180 days in jail, a fine of up to $2,000, and a license suspension of up to one year, along with possible additional penalties.
A second DWI in Texas means the penalties become more serious. It includes 30 days to 1 year in jail, with a mandatory minimum of 30 days even with probation. Fines can reach up to $4,000, in addition to other penalties.
