Jared Goff to end bye with ‘ManningCast’ appearance during Chiefs-Commanders game

ALLEN PARK -- Jared Goff is ending his bye week with an appearance on the “ManningCast” alternative broadcast of Monday Night Football.

Goff has already played on Monday night twice this season, so he’s no stranger to the primetime attention. The Detroit Lions quarterback will join brothers Peyton and Eli Manning sometime during the first half of the Washington Commanders-Kansas City Chiefs game on ESPN2.

For those new to the alternative broadcast, it features the Manning brothers watching Monday Night Football live, discussing the game, breaking down plays and welcoming multiple guests to the show.

Goff and the Lions are just removed from facing the Chiefs two weeks ago, and there should be more than a couple of Kansas City-related topics to try to discuss. The Lions also head to Washington in two weeks for a rematch from last year’s divisional-round defeat.

There wasn’t a “ManningCast” for Detroit’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night last week. But the Manning brothers had a broadcast for the team’s win over the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season. Goff and Lions coach Dan Campbell participated in a mock audition bit for the “ManningCast” two years ago, so the Lions quarterback is no stranger to the setting and tone.

Goff and the Lions come out of the bye week at 5-2. They are right on the heels of the Green Bay Packers (5-1-1) in the NFC North and conference hierarchy.

Goff is posting another efficient season. He ranks second in completion percentage (74.9%), tied for fifth in touchdowns (15), and third in passer rating (116.4). Oddsmakers put Goff in the MVP mix with the sixth-best odds (+1800) through seven games.

One of the other announced guests for tonight’s “ManningCast” is actor Billy Bob Thornton.

The “ManningCast” is produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, which also produced the Netflix docuseries “Quarterback,” in which Goff also appeared.
