Michael Jeffrey Jordan played basketball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before being drafted third overall by the Chicago Bulls in 1984. He was named Rookie of the Year and went on to become one of the most dominant NBA players ever. Over his 15-season career, he won six NBA championships and six Finals MVPs. He first retired in 1993 and played minor league baseball before returning to the NBA in 1995; his third and final retirement came in 2003. Off the court, his Nike Air Jordan sneakers have been a cultural phenomenon since 1985. He also starred in 1996's hit Space Jam. Jordan shares three adult children with his ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy, and twins with his wife, Yvette Prieto.
He played for the Chicago Bulls from 1984-1993, retired to play minor league baseball, then returned to the Bulls from 1995-1998. He retired again in 1999 before ending his NBA career with the Washington Wizards from 2001-2003.
Jordan won six NBA championships (1991–1993, 1996–1998), six Finals MVPs and five regular-season MVPs. Meanwhile, LeBron James has won four NBA championships (2012-2013, 2016 and 2020) is the NBA's all-time scoring leader.
He co-owns a NASCAR racing team called 23XI Racing and joined NBC Sports in 2025 as a special contributor for NBA games. In 2010, he bought the Charlotte Hornets; he sold his majority stake in 2023 but remains a minority owner.
