Perfect replacement: Crystal Palace must appoint four-time title-winning manager if Glasner…

Crystal Palace may have the perfect replacement for Oliver Glasner already in their sights.

Glasner has emerged as one of the Premier League's most highly-rated managers after guiding the Eagles to FA Cup and Community Shield glory against the odds.

An elite-level manager in the making, the 51-year-old has cut a frustrated figure at times due to the recent transfer developments involving Eberechi Eze's move to Arsenal and Marc Guehi's all-but inevitable Crystal Palace exit.

Glasner is out of contract at the end of the season and, despite early talks over a new deal, that contract has not yet been signed, with suggestions that the Austrian boss could jump ship for a higher-profile job, with Manchester United eyeing a move if they sack Ruben Amorim.

That uncertainty is unsettling for Crystal Palace fans. However, the ideal replacement could emerge rather quickly.

Rodgers Facing Uncertain Celtic Future

One man who could be a genuine contender to succeed Glasner at Selhurst Park is Celtic chief Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irish boss is currently in his second spell with the Bhoys and is fresh from winning his fourth Scottish Premiership title with the club last term.

However, this term has been less than impressive for Celtic, who currently sit eight points behind surprise league leaders Hearts, with the manager's uncertain future seemingly being an unsettling factor.

According to 67 Hail Hail, Rodgers is no closer to extending his stay at Parkhead and could be heading for the exit door before long.

In the report, Graeme Bailey said: “I am told that, as it stands, Brendan Rodgers is expected to leave at the end of the season. A new deal is not close. Rodgers is considering his options.

“He is believed to fancy his hand abroad, but a move back to England is an option - the jobs at Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace could be coming up for instance - they could be options.”

Of course, Rodgers has experience in the Premier League having managed Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester, meaning that a return to England could be the perfect solution.

Described by Steven Gerrard as 'a revelation', Rodgers has always done his best work when working with young, hungry and talented players who have the ability to develop into top-tier players and that could make him the perfect fit for a job like Crystal Palace.

With Glasner's stock continuing to rise, it seems sensible that chairman Steve Parish and the Eagles will be formulating a potential succession plan. With Rodgers likely to be looking for a new role next summer, it could prove to be the ideal next step in Palace's journey if Glasner quits in 2026.
