PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers offense was forced go silent count on Sunday when the traveling Green Bay Packers fans brought a commanding presence to Acrisure Stadium and took over the noise element.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after the game it had been a long time since he was forced to do that, but the Packers fans were that loud the Steelers had to switch into their silent count moving forward.
“I’ve heard that chant for 18 years. Packers fans travel really well. First time in a while I’ve used silent count for a home game. It’s a credit to those Packers fans," Rodgers said.
Usually, it is Steelers fans taking over a stadium, but Packers fans have a reputation of traveling extremely well around the country, too. So, it is no surprise that they came to Pittsburgh in droves to cheer on the Packers to the tune of a successful 35-25 win.
The ‘Go Pack Go’ chants rang loud, especially down the stretch of the game once the Steelers were trailing by more than two touchdowns. It forced the offense to adjust their plans and run more hurry-up, too.
Either way, the Steelers are certainly used to having opponents go silent count when they travel on the road, but they do not often have to do it within the confines of Acrisure Stadium.
