Celtics injury update: Is Jaylen Brown playing tonight vs. Pelicans?

The Boston Celtics have started the 2025-26 NBA season with an 0-3 record, the first time such a stretch has taken place for the storied franchise since 2013-14.

Boston fell to the Detroit Pistons by a score of 119-113 on Sunday, as their 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown's 41-point effort was not enough for the team to eke out their first win of the year.

Prior to their game against the Pistons, Brown had been deemed questionable by the Celtics' medical staff as he continued his recovery from a left hamstring strain. Heading into their next matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, the 4-time All-Star has once again hit the injury report.

Brown has been hit with the questionable tag once more due to his lingering left hamstring injury, and Boston's decision to clear the star wing might be a bit more difficult now than it was for their previous outing.

Since he had played through the injury against Detroit and poured in a monster performance only to be on the receiving end of yet another loss, the Celtics' staff could view an appearance against the lowly Pelicans as an unnecessary risk.

Brown has seemingly returned to an All-NBA level to begin the new season, though, as he's averaged a sensational 29.7 points to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists while knocking down a blistering 50.0% of his 6.7 looks from three-point range in three games.

With Boston aiming to finally get back in the win column against a fellow win-less squad, the possibility of including their banged-up star in the rotation may become tempting. For now, the 6-foot-6 star's status remains up in the air.
