Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals offense weren't able to keep up with the scoring frenzy the New York Jets displayed in Week 8, resulting in the Bengals losing to the final winless team in the NFL with a final score of 39-38.
Just when the Bengals fans thought the team was turning a corner after a Thursday night win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, they are back to square one. Cincinnati gave up its 15-point fourth-quarter lead by letting the Jets score three touchdowns in the final 15 minutes.
Following the loss on Sunday, head coach Zac Taylor addressed a few major injuries to the team.
Zac Taylor lists Trey Hendrickson as 'day-to-day' after re-aggravating hip injury
According to the Bengals' head coach, 2024 NFL sack leader Trey Hendrickson suffered a setback to the same hip he injured, resulting in him missing Cincinnati's Week 7 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Taylor said that he and quarterback Joe Flacco (shoulder) are listed as "day-to-day," putting their Week 9 status against the Chicago Bears in question.
Not just this, but linebacker Shaka Hayward will miss multiple weeks after suffering a left fibula injury, Bengals insider Ben Baby mentioned in the list of injuries.
The Bengals could be very short-handed in the final matchup, as the team has been before getting a bye in Week 10.
Cincinnati is sitting one game behind the Steelers for the top spot in the AFC North.
