It doesn't matter if the Bills don't win the AFC East

The Buffalo Bills didn't just end their two-game losing streak, they humiliated their opponents on the road. Buffalo beat the Carolina Panthers 40-9, and James Cook had one of the best games for a Bills running back in history with 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Despite the win, the Bills remain in second place in the AFC East, as the New England Patriots continue beating down teams in their own right, stomping the Cleveland Browns 32-13. The Patriots handed the Bills their first loss of the year in Week 5, and are 6-2 atop the AFC East.

With the Patriots' schedule being much easier than the Bills, many are saying New England will end the Bills' streak of five consecutive division titles. And even if that does happen, it means absolutely nothing for the Bills.

Lack of success

As Nate Geary points out, the Bills haven't won anything after winning the AFC East over the last five years. No Super Bowl wins, not even a Super Bowl appearance. It doesn't matter who they face or where they face them, Buffalo is better than 14 of the other 15 teams in the AFC. It doesn't matter if they end up being the five seed or the three seed, they're going to be favored in their first playoff game.

5 in a row... I really don't care if they win the division anymore. 5 division titles haven't led to a single SB appearance.

I find myself having a tough time getting up for this KC game too. They've beaten them in the regular season and it hasn't done a thing for their 1-seed… https://t.co/qOM4FSFjt7

It still comes down to the Chiefs

It doesn't matter who they play in the wild card round or what seed they are. Worse case scenario, the Bills will face the Chiefs in Arrowhead in the divisional round instead of the AFC Championship Game. Either way, they will have to get through the Chiefs to reach the Super Bowl. Would it be better to have that game at home? Sure, but they lost to the Chiefs at home after the 2023 season.

Would the Bills prefer to be a higher seed and win the division? Of course. Does it mean much at the end of the day? Not really.
