The New England Patriots found a special player in Drake Maye.
The second-year quarterback is having a season for the ages and is among some very big names.
After a Week 8 win against the Cleveland Browns, Maye joined Peyton Manning (2004), Tom Brady (2007), Aaron Rodgers (2011, 2020) and Patrick Mahomes (2018) as the only quarterbacks to have at least 200 passing yards and a passer rating of at least 100.0 in seven consecutive games.
All of those players won NFL MVP in those seasons.

Through eight games this season, Maye has completed 75.2 percent of his passes for 2,026 yards, 15 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
He also has 51 rushes for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
The Patriots hoped that Maye would be special when they selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but it seemed that he was going to need more time before getting it all together.
He drew comparisons to Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen, and his physical tools were clearly similar.
However, he’s looked far ahead of schedule when compared to Allen at this point in his development.
Of course, playing quarterback for the Patriots will always come with high standards.
Brady’s legacy is impossible to ignore, but Maye has done an outstanding job of focusing on the task at hand.
The Patriots look to be back as legitimate playoff contenders, and they have a new star at quarterback.
