Newcastle United will need to smash their transfer record to bring Elliot Anderson back to the club next summer.

Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle United want to re-sign Anderson, having reluctantly sold him to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2024.

Anderson has developed into a leading Premier League midfielder since leaving his boyhood club and now looks like a key player in Thomas Tuchel’s England set-up.

The Newcastle United academy graduate signed a five-year deal at the City Ground after leaving St James’ Park and has also been linked with Manchester United.

Now, there has been a fresh update on the 22-year-old’s long-term future.

Nottingham Forest want between £100-£120m for Elliot Anderson

Several top clubs are understood to be monitoring his situation at Forest, who have struggled after a fine season last time out.

Both Newcastle and Man United are said to have registered their interest, which Forest are aware of.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle go that high for Anderson but it’s the kind of situation the club have been in before.

While they didn’t sell Alan Shearer as a youngster, the club did not sign perhaps the greatest player the city has ever produced during the early stages of his career.
