Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons is playing his first season without a star on the side of his helmet but still came to the defense of his friend and former teammate Trevon Diggs, after the embattled cornerback landed on injured reserve Saturday.
Parsons, speaking with Yahoo Sports Jori Epstein, did not mince words when it came to his thoughts on the matter.
“Honestly, I feel like they [expletive] my dog over, you know what I mean?” Parsons said, “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury and I just didn’t think they did right by him. He didn’t participate all camp and he’s going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don’t think you do that to a player like that.
“And the type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don’t do that.”
Diggs was recovering from bone chondral surgery in his left knee that ended his 2024 season early and was the same knee that he suffered a torn ACL, which ended his 2023 season after just two games.
This season Diggs played in six games and was in over 90% of the team’s defensive snaps in three games, including his last two against the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, before a concussion and subsequent knee problems landed him on IR.
Parsons support for Diggs should come as no surprise as the cornerback did the same for Parsons earlier in the season when reports came out saying the Penn State product had been a malcontent during his time with the Cowboys.
Diggs is eligible to return for the Cowboys on Nov. 27, however the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris says there’s a chance the cornerback has played his final game for franchise that drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
