The Boston Celtics knew this season would present quite a few challenges, but they wanted to have a better start than this.
The team hasn’t had any luck so far in 2025-26, falling to the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and Detroit Pistons.
They haven’t started a season this poorly in more than a decade.
“The Celtics are 0-3 for the first time since the 2013-14 season — the last season they missed the playoffs,” per ESPN NBA.

The loss of Jayson Tatum was always going to set the Celtics back, but their problems go beyond that.
They have parted ways with major talent like Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, who added so much to the lineup.
Jaylen Brown is a terrific player, but some fans aren’t sure if he can fill the void left by Tatum.
On Sunday night, Brown was terrific with his 41 points, six rebounds, and four assists, but the Celtics just couldn’t slow down the Pistons.
The problem for Boston is that the season will remain challenging, and Tatum won’t be back any time soon.
He has said he’d like to play this year, but there is no indication that he’ll get his wish.
That means the Celtics will have to fight as hard as they can and find an identity without Tatum.
The team needs a win as soon as possible, and they might get one on Monday night when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Following that, they will face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the 76ers again.
How long will it be before the Celtics earn their first victory of the season?
