The fourth-round pick suffered a dislocated ankle during the Giants’ Week 8 loss to the Eagles and was released from the hospital just one day after his operation.
Skattebo took to social media to express his appreciation for everyone who supported him during a difficult time. The 22-year-old posted a heartfelt message on X that resonated with fans across the league.
“Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way,” Skattebowrote.

He also thanked the doctors, surgeons, and staff who performed the procedure and emphasized his faith moving forward. “GOD has a plan for me, stick the course and it will all work itself out, BRB.”
Skattebo Suffers Season Ending Injury But Receives Heartwarming Support From Eagles
The injury happened during the second quarter when Skattebo went down and needed to be carted off the field. Medical staff placed his leg in an air cast before transporting him to a local Philadelphia hospital for immediate surgery.
The sight of the injury was difficult for fans and teammates to witness, but the swift medical response helped ensure the best possible outcome.

While recovering in his hospital room, Skattebo received a special visit from Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro. DiSandro brought the injured Giants player some authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks and snacks, a gesture that clearly meant a lot to Skattebo.

The rookie made sure to mention his appreciation for the kindness shown by members of the Eagles organization despite the rivalry between the two teams.
The injury brings an early end to what was shaping up as a promising rookie campaign for Skattebo. Through eight games this season, he carried the ball 101 times for 410 yards and found the end zone five times on the ground.
He also proved valuable in the passing game, hauling in 24 receptions for 207 yards and adding two more touchdowns through the air.
Skattebo now begins the long road to recovery as he prepares for rehabilitation. The young running back expressed optimism about his return, telling fans that this is “just the beginning of my journey” and that he cannot wait to show everyone what comes next.
