“Leave Inter and go” – Player told to depart after Newcastle United approach

In the summer transfer window, Newcastle United failed eith a move for Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi.

A source informed [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/newcastle-united-in-contact-for-central-midfielder-very-difficult-deal-to-do-in-2-weeks/) about the interest and that the Magpies made contact for the midfielder. A deal didn’t go through, as the Italian giants were keen on keeping the player.

Their plans seem to have changed dramatically.

This is because the 26-year-old has started only once in Serie A. In all competitions, he’s played only 297 minutes.

As a result, the Azzurri player is being talked about again in Italy, especially after the failed Newcastle United switch.

Journalist Nando Orsi spoke to Radio Radio. He stated that Frattesi made a bad choice to stay at Inter and even join them in the first place.

He said, relayed by [InterLive](https://www.interlive.it/2025/10/27/invito-esplicito-a-frattesi-vai-via-dallinter/): “Frattesi _made a choice by going to Inter, but he knew_ _Barella_ _was there. When Barella isn’t there, he plays; otherwise, he stays on the bench._

_“They even tried to play both of them with Barella at the top of the pitch,_ _but it wasn’t a great choice__.”_

The journalist also backed the Italy international to depart Inter in January.

_“Frattesi_ _would play for any other Italian team other than Inter, and then he should ask himself a few questions._

_“Leave Inter and go play__, otherwise you’ll have a career in which you’ve earned a lot but played very little.”_

With every passing week, it is clear that Frattesi isn’t getting anywhere under Cristian Chivu.

Inter have seven options in midfield right now – after Andy Diouf arrived late in the summer. This is another reason why Frattesi finds himself low in the pecking order.

More than that, he is more of a box-crashing midfielder than a technical asset. That is why he has thrived for the national team.

The Italian press have already made it clear Newcastle United remain interested. Italy teammate Sandro Tonali is very much a hero at St James’ Park. As a result, the Magpies can be an intriguing opportunity for Frattesi.
