Even though Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has heavily rotated throughout the season so far, it feels like one Blues player should be on red alert that he needs to start seriously impressing.
In fairness, Enzo Maresca has coped with the busy fixture load by shuffling his pack to use the entire squad. However, the inconsistent results point towards him needing to find a settled XI as soon as possible.
Gary Neville has criticised Chelsea’s inconsistency during the 2025-26 season so far, which includes an average first quarter of the Premier League.
Next, the Blues will be looking to respond during Wednesday night’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup. After that, they travel to rivals Tottenham on Saturday in the league.

The pressure is on Marc Guiu to impress
Unless Marc Guiu does something quite special soon, we fear he’s at risk of seeing his minutes diminish even further this season.
The Spanish striker, 19, hasn’t been a regular in the side this campaign, making four Blues appearances across all competitions. However, he’s had an increase in opportunities, featuring in the previous three consecutive Premier League matches.
Unfortunately, the teenage centre-forward was very quiet in the previous defeat at home to Sunderland.
Guiu should definitely feel the pressure to impress Maresca because otherwise he could slip back down the pecking order. In particular, Liam Delap’s imminent return should put the fear into him.
Blues centre-forward Delap is expected to be available against Wolves as he returns from a hamstring after missing a couple of months. If the 22-year-old Englishman can get fit and firing again, Guiu could have a problem because we’re predicting he could get less minutes.

How much Marc Guiu cost
Of course, Guiu needs to seize this moment in the Chelsea first team to make himself undroppable by scoring goals and delivering busy performances. He may not get a better chance to do it because the squad is stacked when everyone is fully fit.
But it is worth remembering that Guiu only cost £5m (BBC) to sign from Barcelona in 2024, so it feels like he was a bit of a punt.
Troy Deeney doubts Guiu will make it at Chelsea, and much will depend on his development. Even so, we’re convinced he could be sold for a healthy profit because he’s a young forward with so much potential.
