‘I Want to Improve’: Merlin Rohl sets Goal Challenge After Spurs Defeat

Everton midfielder Merlin Rohl has insisted that he can bring a lot to David Moyes’ team.

Indeed, the German has also said that goals must be shared throughout the squad, to alleviate pressure on strikers.

Rohl made his third substitute appearance in the second half during yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Spurs.

With two consecutive defeats without a goal in reply, Rohl has said every player must share the responsibility.

He said: “We all need to work on getting goals and creating more chances. Every player needs to focus on themselves.

“I have to look at my actions as I want to improve for the next game. That’s what everybody needs to do and then we come together as a team for the next game and try to do better.

“I think I can bring a lot to the team. The focus doesn’t need to be on one position or certain players.

“I think I can fit in different roles and bring different attributes into our team. I like to go forwards with the ball at my feet, I like to go deep, I like to work behind to get the ball to the attacker, so there are a lot of positions and we shouldn’t focus on certain players, thinking: ‘that’s my position and where I want to play.’”

ROHL HAS MADE AN IMPRESSIVE START TO HIS EVERTON CAREER

Rohl has impressed since his summer arrival from Freiburg and has quickly adapted to the Premier League.

His versatility could be a real asset for Moyes, and he will likely get more game time over the coming months.

Idrissa Gueye will depart for AFCON in December and Moyes will want Rohl fully integrated by then.

If he can add goals to our midfield, it would be a tremendous boost for Moyes, with strikers still misfiring.
