Aston Villa have enjoyed a good run since they appointed Unai Emery as manager in October 2022. He was instrumental in the Villans qualifying for the Champions League.
Last week, Marca praised Emery for his work at Villa Park and said everything changed at the club with his arrival.
Emery recently praised Aston Villa’s owners for fulfilling their roles and giving him responsibility to create the setup he needed.
Aston Villa director Damian Vidagany has joined Emery in complimenting the Premier League club’s owners for their support. He previously had a spell at Valencia and on Monday he gave an interview to Cadena Ser to review Los Ches’ complicated situation.
Vidagany also talked about his work at Aston Villa and SER Deportivos Valencia took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to relay his comments. Vidagany said the Birmingham club’s rise in recent years is down to Emery and the club’s owners.
“Aston Villa’s success is based on Unai’s genius, the resources we have dedicated, and the ownership’s faithfulness to their word,” he said.
“At Aston Villa, football is at the centre of the debate and the heart of the activity. If there is no sporting success, a club doesn’t sell tickets or shirts.”
Last summer, Aston Villa had to be cautious not to breach the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules [PSR]. They reportedly invested over €30m and carried out a few loan signings.
Emery’s side endured a difficult start to the season before bouncing back in September. They are currently eighth in the table, two points behind third placed Tottenham Hotspur.
The director says the owners are always in constant contact during the window when it comes to transfers.
“During the transfer market, or times of sporting difficulties, I speak 7-8 times a day with the Aston Villa owners. Constant communication,” Vidagany explained.
Ahead of January, the director can expect his phone to get busy again.
