It’s time for a weekly stock report after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants.
Whose arrow is pointing up after Week 8? And whose stock is dipping going into the bye week? Let’s take a closer look.
STOCK UP
RB Tank Bigsby: For the last month or so, it looked like Howie Roseman wasted fifth-round and sixth-round picks acquiring Bigsby from the Jaguars. But the former Jacksonville back, who didn’t have an offensive role at all prior to Sunday, proved why Roseman went out and got him, rushing for 104 yards. His 29-yard run on second-and-26 was especially impressive. But Bigsby was a freight train on all of his runs.
TE Dallas Goedert: Seven receiving touchdowns, which is tied for the league lead, speaks volumes. Goedert, in a contract year no less, is balling out.
OL Fred Johnson: Brett Toth wasn’t the only under-the-radar offensive lineman whose arrow is pointing up after the Giants win. Johnson — who appeared in the “stock up” section last week, too — saw 14 offensive snaps as the sixth lineman in heavy packages. The Eagles continued to find success in those under-center looks. Should be a staple moving forward.
QB Jalen Hurts: It kind of goes without saying, but Hurts has been unbelievable the last couple weeks. After having a perfect 158.3 passer rating in Minnesota, Hurts completed 15 of 20 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns with a 141.5 passer rating vs. New York. Hurts seems to be playing with a chip on his shoulder since that two-game losing skid.
STOCK DOWN
LB Jihaad Campbell: Campbell came into Sunday averaging 62.9 defensive snaps per game. But the first-round rookie out of Alabama played on 21 of 45 snaps vs. the Giants. Campbell told NJ Advance Media that he’s healthy, so that wasn’t the issue. Vic Fangio just opted for Nakobe Dean (33 snaps) over the talented rookie. Something to monitor after the bye.
K Jake Elliott: It’s not a huge concern at all. But after hitting his first six field goals of the season, including three from 50-plus yards, Elliott has missed two of his last three kicks. Maybe a curious whistle had something to do with Elliott doinking his 58-yard attempt vs. New York.
RB AJ Dillon: With Nolan Smith and Jakorian Bennett coming back from IR and Brandon Graham unretiring, the Eagles are going to have to make room on the roster. And after Bigsby’s big day and third-string running back Will Shipley gaining 99 yards on three kickoff returns, it’s looking likely that Dillon, the 27-year-old veteran, is expendable.
