Bayern Munich chief shares why Nicolas Jackson was so impressive in recent win

Nicolas Jackson is finding his feet at Bayern Munich, and sporting director Max Eberl is happy with the addition.

Chelsea’s decision to let Jackson leave this summer didn’t rub too many fans the wrong way, after an influx of new attackers at Stamford Bridge.

The arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap meant little opportunity for the Senegalese striker, but he has found a role at his new club playing as backup to Harry Kane.

Chelsea fans have been watching Jackson at his new club, initially unconvinced by his slow start in the league. But three goal involvements in three Champions League games hinted at the Blues loanee hitting a run of form, and his most recent Bundesliga outing was more evidence of him settling at his new club.

Max Eberl says Bayern needed a player like Nicolas Jackson

Bayern have raced out of the blocks, notching eight wins from eight, giving them a five-point lead over second-place RB Leipzig.

The weekend’s action saw them travel to Borussia Monchengladbach, executing another convincing win.

Jackson started the game, and despite Bayern not scoring in the hour he spent on the pitch, Eberl was happy with what he saw. Tribal Football report his words from after the game, where he remarked: “The space was extremely tight for the strikers.

“When you play around the penalty area like that, there’s little room. And yet, Nicolas was one of the players who had the patience to turn the game around today.

“He has put himself at the service of the team. That’s exactly what we need – patience, discipline, and team spirit.”

The lack of league goals isn’t putting the Bayern chief off, with Jackson filling the role needed of him in Vincet Kompany’s side, and doing so with a great attitude.

Good form from Jackson exactly what Chelsea want to see

As painful as it can sometimes be to see a player leave and thrive, the situation with Jackson and Bayern calls for it.

He’s still on the books at Chelsea, but they will want that to change next summer. Not only because of Delap and Pedro, but also because of the pending arrival of Emanuel Emegha, who should spell the end of his Chelsea career.

Ideally, Bayern will exercise their option to buy him when the summer window comes around, and Chelsea can move on.

But there have been some suggestions from Germany that, despite Jackson impressing so far, there aren’t concrete plans to make the move permanent.

🚨🔴 EXCL | FC Bayern have added Fisnik #Asllani to their shortlist as a potential backup for Harry #Kane from the 2026/27 season onwards.

Even if Bayern aren’t willing to keep Jackson on, a good campaign from him would make the chances of Chelsea finding a buyer next summer much higher.

Hopefully he can continue on his recent trajectory and Chelsea can recoup a nice fee for him next summer, from Bayern or someone else.
