Marco Silva previews Carabao Cup clash with Wycombe

Marco Silva spoke about the preparation from **Fulham**for the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Cottagers continued to suffer in the Premier League on the weekend as they conceded a last gasp winner from Bruno Guimaraes in a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United. The team are competitive, but the fine margins are not going their way. Their respite could be through the domestic cups.

With a triumph against Wycombe Wanderers, **Fulham**can get to the quarter-finals of this tournament and keep the hope of a major honour alive for a little longer. However, Silva has stressed that the attitude has to be correct from the get-go.

*“We started to speak about this game straightaway after the Newcastle game, when – as you expect – the mood was down. And the end of my speech with the players, went in the direction of the Carabao Cup and the weekend’s game [against **Wolves*].

“First of all, here, no one underestimates the opposition at all. We know what these competitions mean for us, and for our opposition it’s always an opportunity.

“For us it’s an opportunity, to go through in the competition, to arrive in certain stages, and the final stages of this competition. For our opposition, it’s always a big chance the next day to be in the spotlight, to be in all the TV shows and newspapers and all that stuff.

“We know that, and we have to be very serious. But nothing different than the last games we have played in the competition. We prepare ourselves like we prepare for the Premier League games, and we have to go there and show our quality.

*“Their enthusiasm is going to be top, and we have to have the same enthusiasm as well. The same will, the same desire, and after show why we are playing and competing in the Premier League.”*
