**Newcastle United were forced into one of their biggest mistakes in recent memory in the summer of 2024 when PSR restrictions backed them into a corner.**
With a deficit of around £70 million to fill to avoid a likely points deduction, Newcastle initially flirted with the idea of selling Anthony Gordon, who was coming off the back of an astonishing season.
Instead, the Magpies opted to sell two of their most promising youngsters in Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, the latter of which really stung given he was an academy graduate with huge potential.
Both players went on to have great seasons for their new clubs, but Elliot Anderson is now really starting to realise that potential we all knew he had, and as such, there are strong rumours that Newcastle are poised to try and bring him back home.

Florian Plettenberg revealed the crazy valuation Forest have put on Elliot Anderson
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle aren't alone in hoping to free Anderson from Nottingham Forest, but it seems the East Midlands club are going to want to make a hefty profit on the 22-year-old, according to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, who posted this to X last night:
> 🚨🆕 Manchester United and Newcastle are just two of many top clubs closely monitoring Elliot #Anderson. Their interest has already been registered. #MUFC
>
> Forest are aware. Key player. Understand for a transfer in the summer, a fee of around £100–120 million is currently being demanded. There is no release clause.
Nottingham Forest are hoping for a £100 million profit on Elliot Anderson
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nottingham Forest paid Newcastle £35 million for Elliot Anderson and also received £20 million for Odysseas Vlachodimos in return, as both clubs bid to avoid PSR sanctions. So after essentially paying £15 million for the England starlet, they now want over £100 million more to see him leave.
Such a figure is sure to put Newcastle off, but if we know anything about this ownership, it's that they won't be forced to pay above the odds for anyone. We expected a bid of half of what they're asking to go in, if there was going to be a bid at all.
Is Elliot Anderson worth as much as Alexander Isak? Well, on current form, yes, obviously, but will Newcastle or any other club go anywhere near that valuation? Highly unlikely.
