AFC Bournemouth hosted Nottingham Forest at Dean Court on Sunday night, one of the Forest fans’ most loved and revered trips of the season.
The visiting supporters and new manager Sean Dyche, who is well known for his love of the Cherries were treated to a pulsating start by the home side that blew away the visitors, much like an autumnal storm.
The breakthrough, however, was rather unfortunate for the visitors; a wrongfully awarded corner for AFC Bournemouth was then directly scored by Marcus Tavernier.
Whilst the circumstances of the goal were lucky for Andoni Iraola’s side, the lead was well deserved by AFC Bournemouth and when Eli Junior Kroupi scored his fourth goal in three appearances, the points were all but wrapped up.
The second half was not much of a spectacle, the home side shifted down the gears and lifted the accelerator off the floor and cruised for the final 45 minutes, keeping the away side at bay with ease.
After the match, Iraola told Sky Sports…
“It’s a solid win. I was especially pleased with the first half. We started really strong and made a difference with the goals. We didn’t play as well in the second half. They didn’t have a lot of things but winning 2-0 was good for us.
“They are very tall so we tried to move them a little bit with the short corners before we put the ball inside the box. When we scored, lovely delivery, and it made a difference.
“With the goal of Junior, at 2-0 you cannot be confident, after the experience of Crystal Palace, we used it not to relax.
“Junior is a really good finisher. He finishes from far a lot of times in training and whenever he has the chance. He still has to improve in other areas, but he’s scoring important goals for us.”

Another afternoon, leaving Dean Court with the majority of the 11,204 fans there coming out again with a big smile on their faces.
Two good goals in the first half decided the game today.
The opening goal straight from the corner by Marcus Tavernier and another cracking strike from young Junior Kroupi.
Another good team performance and a clean sheet.
Second in the table tonight on merit and with an improved GD of 5.
"If I'm being honest, it wasn't meant to go in that area!" 😅

OMG, I can’t believe how much drama and upset have come from this decision over a corner/goal kick. Even at the time on the TV, there were multiple replays to the point where I thought the producer must be a Forest fan or not like afcb for some reason. Now I’ve seen on Sky Sports some bellend suggesting that VAR is used to intervene when deciding corner/goal kick, presumably then we go to throw-ins?
Everyone knows VAR is bad enough now. I know, let’s use it more!
It’s madness, destroying the game.
I have to admit I thought they were going to disallow it for Adams’ touch on the keeper which a lot of people are saying was when the keeper was in the air (he wasn’t, both feet were on the ground during any contact) I can only assume that it wasn’t disallowed because it was only Forest and not a sky six team.
There were several goals scored from corners yesterday, and the decisions regarding interference with the goalkeeper were not what you’d call consistent. If VAR should do anything, it’s provide that level of consistency; it doesn’t even do that within the same match, let alone across multiple matches in a game week.
Laughing with Bournemouth fans when they chanted “getting sacked in the car park” was a new low for me as a Forest fan #nffc

My god, they were so fired up I thought the stadium would burn down. Was there a single chant from the Florist mob today? Never seen such a subdued rabble.

OldSkool
Thought we were excellent today – everyone played their part and we looked so assured throughout.
Florist have some good players, but they are lacking in confidence and belief – plus they know playing us will inevitably end up with a defeat! – To join the conversation, please click here.
