The New Orleans Saints enter Week 9 with a 1-7 record, and questions about their roster continue to mount as the NFL trade deadline approaches.
Trade speculation has centered on the team’s receiving corps in recent weeks, with former first-round pick Chris Olave drawing the most attention from interested teams.
However, sources suggest the Saints have no intention of moving their young star receiver.
The same cannot be said for other members of the wide receiver room.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter addressed the Saints’ situation during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, indicating that New Orleans could part ways with at least one wideout.
“I think that there will be a wide receiver move or two made before the deadline. Everybody’s been calling the Saints, checking in there. Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave. They’re not going to get rid of Chris Olave. They want him. Brandon Cooks, I think at least one of those wide receivers gets traded here in the next eight days,” Schefter said.

Rashid Shaheed carries a cap hit just above $4.4 million this season and will become a free agent when the year concludes.
The former All-Pro has recorded 39 catches for 431 yards and two touchdowns through eight games while also handling punt return duties with nine returns for 120 yards.
Veteran Brandin Cooks signed a two-year deal worth $13 million to return to New Orleans this offseason and has contributed 17 receptions for 149 yards while appearing in all eight contests.
The Saints face a difficult position as the deadline approaches.
Their offense has struggled to find consistency, and the quarterback situation remains unsettled following Spencer Rattler’s benching.
Moving a receiver could provide draft capital or roster flexibility for a team that is clearly not competing this season.
