Jon Gruden Compares Jordan Love To 2 NFL Legends

Call it luck, skill, or a combination of the two, but the Green Bay Packers seem to have found another franchise quarterback.

There was some trepidation about Jordan Love, especially after something of a down year in 2024, but he’s quickly silenced any critics with his MVP-like play this season.

He’s coming off an impressive victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, a matchup that saw the Packers’ newbie taking on a franchise legend.

Love handled the pressure better than anyone could have imagined during this Sunday Night Football battle, showcasing his abilities on national TV.

While this game was impressive, it wasn’t just a flash in the pan.

In a video he recently shared to X, Jon Gruden pointed out Love’s statistics in his first 39 NFL starts, giving him props compared to the two QB legends who came before him.

“When you look at the numbers, in the first 39 games as a Green Bay Packer, I compared Favre, Rodgers, and Love. Jordan Love’s statistics are better than the two Hall of Famers, and that’s saying something. Completion percentage, he’s higher. Touchdown-to-interception ratio, it’s better. Quarterback rating, it’s better. And one loss record is very relative. But Jordan Love, from a statistical standpoint, has been right with Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. You could say he’s exceeded them in certain categories,” Gruden said.

Did you know Jordan Love has better numbers through his first 39 starts than both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre did?

Love has a lot to live up to, following both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, but as Gruden noted, he’s started his career on the right foot.

Through seven games, Love has thrown 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions, an elite ratio that Rodgers commonly had when he was with the team.

He had some Favre-like tendencies earlier in his career, having some gun-slinging moments that got him in trouble, but he’s started to calm down in that respect.

Love hasn’t helped the Packers bring home a title yet, so his legacy with the team isn’t cemented yet, but if he keeps playing inspired football, there’s no telling what the ceiling will be for this team.
