Joe Flacco Is Dealing With Injury

Joe Flacco finished Sunday’s 39-38 loss to the New York Jets without missing a snap, but the veteran quarterback may still land on the Cincinnati Bengals‘ injury report this week.

Flacco briefly left for the locker room in the fourth quarter after absorbing a hard sack from Jets edge rusher Will McDonald.

He returned for Cincinnati’s final drive and told reporters afterward he felt fine, brushing off concerns about lingering discomfort.

Head coach Zac Taylor provided clarity on Monday when addressing Flacco’s condition moving forward into the week’s preparation.

“Bengals QB Joe Flacco, who went into the locker room late in the game, has a shoulder injury and is day-to-day, coach Zac Taylor said,” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport wrote on X.

Flacco’s arrival in Cincinnati came just three weeks ago, when the Bengals acquired him from the Cleveland Browns before their October 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

His presence has reshaped an offense that struggled under Jake Browning following Joe Burrow’s injury.

Burrow remains sidelined until mid-December, leaving Flacco to stabilize a unit desperate for consistency and leadership.

Over three starts, the veteran has delivered exactly that.

Flacco has completed 81 of 126 passes for 784 yards while throwing seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Bengals have scored 89 points during that stretch, though their record stands at just 1-2 despite the offensive output.

Sunday’s performance included a milestone moment beyond the final score.

Flacco sneaked in a 1-yard rushing touchdown early in the game, becoming the oldest player in Bengals history to reach the end zone.

The record previously belonged to Terrell Owens, who accomplished the feat at 36 in 2010.

Flacco also joined rare company as the first quarterback aged 40 or older to post consecutive games with multiple passing touchdowns and at least one 10-yard run since Doug Flutie did it with the San Diego Chargers in 2003.
