Marcus Rashford claims to have shared the true feelings of several Manchester United players towards former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian was in charge of United for three years with performances arguably as consistent as any head coach had managed since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

During his tenure, United finished in the top four twice and also reached the Europa League final, but did suffer defeat in that showpiece clash to Villarreal. A 4-1 defeat to Watford just a few months later was his final game in charge with United having had five big names take the helm since his exit.

Since being given an opportunity in the senior team by Louis van Gaal, Rashford has played under eight different managers and his recent comments suggest that his best moments came with Solskjaer in charge.

“Ole is a fantastic person," he admitted to TV2. "I loved playing under him. I can speak for many of the players at Manchester United when I say that we enjoyed playing for him.

“We played good football under Ole. It was a very successful period for me personally. He is a fantastic person, and I don’t have a bad word to say about him.”

Asked if he keeps in contact with the former Besiktas and Molde boss, he replied: “Yes, from time to time, but it’s been a while now.”

Erik ten Hag and current boss Ruben Amorim have been the only two permanent hires since then with Rashford enjoying very different relationships under both. The 27-year-old was unplayable at times under Ten Hag and he played a key role in United winning both domestic cup competitions.

Rashford scored three goals in as many appearances following the arrival of Amorim, but he was later ostracized from the first-team squad after a falling out with United's new manager.

A successful loan move to Aston Villa arrived that January all while United endured the worst season in their history.

Having not been reintegrated back into the squad, Rashford looked destined to depart permanently this past summer, but instead sealed a dream move - if only on a temporary basis - to Barcelona. The transfer does include a £30million buy-option.

While a decision is unlikely to be made until next year at the earliest, it is looking very likely he will be a permanent signing.

That is because he has managed 10 goal contributions from as many games so far this season with the latest of those an assist in the El Classico defeat to Real Madrid this past weekend.
