Three sets of statistical trends, records, marks and highlights by the Jets from their 39-38 comeback victory over the Bengals at Cincinnati's Paycor Stadium this past weekend:
Breece = Whirlwind
Justin Fields deserves his love, which he got after Sunday's comeback and will continue to accrue through the bye. But Breece Hall's versatile, productive showing also had admirers, his center being one. "Breece's ability to see, be patient, change direction — he's outstanding to block for." Josh Myers said. More Hall distinctions from the win over the Bengals:
We tweeted Sunday night about Hall's connection to Freeman McNeil as the only RBs in franchise history to rush for 100-plus yards, run for at least 1 TD and pass for at least 1 score. And both did their thing at Cincinnati, Freeman in the '82 playoffs. Breece is also the first NFL running back responsible for 3 fourth-quarter TDs in a road game since the Texans' Ryan Moats had 3 fourth-quarter TD runs in the 31-10 win at the Bills in 2009.
Hall is the first Jets RB to complete a pass since Bilal Powell out of the Wildcat to TE Jeff Cumberland for 30 yards at Miami in 2013. Hall's also the first Jets back to complete a TD pass since Curtis Martin's 18-yarder to Wayne Chrebet at Pittsburgh in 2001. And Hall is the first Jets RB to complete a game-winning TD pass in the final 2:00 of regulation since Martin's glove-drop 18-yarder to Chrebet in "the Flashlight Game" at Tampa Bay in 2000.
Hall saved 112 of his 133 rushing yards Sunday for the second half, nearly matching his 118 second-half rush yards at Denver in 2023. Those are the Jets' two largest second-half rushing totals since another Martin classic, his 122 second-half rush yards in "the Snow Game" win over the Steelers in '03. Teamwise, the Jets' 181 rush yards at Cincinnati were their most in a second half since gaining 196 in their tie vs. the Chiefs in '88, but that number includes overtime yards.
