“Daboll Is Coaching On Borrowed Time”: New York Giants HC Brian Daboll In Danger Of Losing Job…

The New York Giants are off to a 2-6 start for the third straight season. There is talent on this roster, but injuries and poor coaching have not helped this team this season.

Head coach Brian Daboll is responsible for drafting quarterback Jaxson Dart and so is general manager Joe Schoen, but there are major questions about both Daboll and Schoen as the rest of the NFL season progresses. Even if Dart continues to play great, both of their jobs will not be safe because the Giants may not win many games. Is time almost up for Daboll as the head coach of this football team?

Daboll’s name has been mentioned on the hot seat ever since the end of last season. Owner John Mara kept both him and Schoen for one more season. Mara wanted to see winning results, but he is not getting it. If the Giants finish with a 4-13 record this season, there is a great chance that this team will clean house once again.

They will then try to find the right head coach and general manager to finally change things for this organization and make them into a consistent winner. Cory Woodroof of the USA Today said about Daboll being on the hot seat,

“Daboll is coaching on borrowed time. In his fourth year as New York’s head coach, he’s presiding over yet another likely losing campaign. The Giants have sunk low in recent years, and Daboll’s promising 2022 debut feels like a distant memory at this point. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart looks like he could be somebody, but can the Giants trust Daboll to develop Dart and build a winner around him? If the Giants keep losing, Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen may find themselves on the outside looking in on two of the more intriguing openings in the 2026 cycle.”

What is going to hurt Daboll is keeping defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. He hired him. Bowen had a terrible defense in 2024, and his defense is even worse in 2025. Players like Dexter Lawrence and others have their confidence ruined because of him.

Bowen should have been fired after they lost to the Dallas Cowboys or the Denver Broncos. Poor coaching is what is going to get everyone fired. Schoen has drafted talent on the roster, but the depth is horrendous. The Giants don’t have the right coaching, and Daboll doesn’t seem to be the answer for Dart in the long-term.
