The Green Bay Packers are 5-1-1 so far this season following their 35-25 victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. While both teams got off to slow starts offensively, it was Jordan Love and the Packers offense who dominated the second half while the Green Bay defense made life miserable for Rodgers and the Pittsburgh offense.
As of the end of Week Eight, the Packers are in first place in the NFC North (and hold the first overall seed in the NFC) while the Steelers, at 4-3, are still atop the shockingly disappointing AFC North.
Indeed, Rodgers and his new team still control their own destiny when it comes to making the NFL Playoffs, but the game against Green Bay showed that their offense is still a piece or two short of truly being a complete unit. In an effort to remedy that, Pittsburgh has turned to one of Rodgers’ former wide receivers in Green Bay.

In four seasons with Rodgers and the Packers, MVS caught 123 passes for 1,253 yards and 13 touchdowns. His best season was the 2020 campaign in which he led the NFL with 20.9 yards per receptions while catching 33 passes for 690 yards and six touchdowns.
After the 2021 season, MVS signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he won two Super Bowl titles.
Following the 2023 season, he was released by Kansas City and signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills. He did not last long in Buffalo, though, catching just two passes for 26 yards in six games.
Upon his release from the Bills, MVS signed with the New Orleans Saints, with whom he had 17 receptions for 385 yards and four touchdowns in eight games.
MVS signed with the Seattle Seahawks prior to the 2025 season, but did not make the team. He has, though, spent some time with the San Francisco 49ers, recording four receptions for 40 yards in five games.
The former Packers wide receiver was released by the 49ers on October 18 with an injury settlement. It is not yet known whether he will start his tenure in Pittsburgh on the practice squad or the active roster, but with Rodgers under center, it may not be long until he sees the field.
