Real Madrid midfielder’s camp believes Alonso can get the best out of him

Since his comeback from injury last month, Eduardo Camavinga is slowly but surely growing in prominence in Xabi Alonso’s plans at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman even got the nod for the first El Clasico this past Sunday, ahead of Franco Mastantuono and Dani Ceballos, both of whom had played quite regularly in the preceding weeks.

Alonso’s faith in the 22-year-old midfielder paid off as he put in a brilliant performance against Barcelona, playing an important role in stifling the La Liga champions and helping Real Madrid win 2-1.

Alonso the key to unlocking Camavinga?

Now, according to Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, sources close to Camavinga strongly believe that Xabi Alonso and his tactical approach can get the best out of the midfielder at Real Madrid.

Since arriving in 2021 from Rennes, the 22-year-old midfield prodigy has showcased his immense potential. However, constant tinkering in his position and injury problems had seen his prominence somewhat decline.

But things are once again starting to look up for Camavinga since his return from the latest injury setback he had suffered.

And those close to him firmly believe that Alonso will be the key to unlocking the best version of the French international at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Camavinga finished Sunday’s El Clasico with a 85% pass accuracy, two key passes, two out of three long passes completed, three recoveries and eight duels won out of 12 attempted.

It has not always been easy for the former Rennes prodigy, and given the competition for places in the Madrid midfield department, he will need to be more and more consistent. But things seem to be headed in the right direction for him under Alonso.
