Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup with both sides desperately in need of a morale-boosting victory.
Arne Slot’s side, winners of the competition in 2024, welcome the Eagles to Anfield in the midst of a run of five defeats in their last six matches across all competitions.

And it was a 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park back in late September that kicked off the Reds’ poor sequence of form.
Palace themselves have hit a turbulent run after a strong start to the season which saw them go 19 matches unbeaten dating back to last season.
But three defeats in their last four outings put the break on their impressive record.
Both sides come into the game on the back of Premier League defeats after Liverpool were beaten 3-2 at Brentford while Palace slipped to a 1-0 loss at Arsenal.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Team news
Liverpool could be without six players for the clash with midfielder Curtis Jones the latest player to pick up a knock after he limped out of Saturday's defeat.
Ryan Gravenberch was missing at the Gtech Community Stadium due to an ankle problem and could miss out again here.
The same can be said of Alexander Isak who is nursing a groin injury while Alisson and Jeremie Frimpong remain sidelined as does centre-back Giovanni Leoni who is out for the season after ACL surgery.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is likely to be rested for the match after starting the last five games in the absence of Alisson with summer signing Freddie Woodman in line to make his competitive debut for the club.
Crystal Palace will be without Cheick Doucoure and defender Caleb Kporha while Chadi Riad is closing in on a return to training after a long-term knee injury.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: What has been said?
Liverpool boss Slot conceded that Saturday's defeat to Brentford was among the most disappointed he has been since arriving at Anfield in 2024.
The Dutchman appeared to suggest that teams have finally worked out how to play against his title-winning team.
“Teams have a certain playing style against us, which is a very good strategy to play,” Slot said. “We haven’t found an answer yet, and that every time going 1-0 down doesn’t really help as well.”
“They’re a very good team in winning duels and second balls,” he said of Brentford’s display. “You have to give them credit for that. It’s also difficult to win a game of football if the set-piece balance is in their favour.”
Pressed on his side’s run of defeats, Slot admits that Liverpool’s summer squad shake up had played a part in it.
“If you change quite a lot during the summer, then I think it’s not a surprise that it can go a bit like this, but I didn’t expect it to go with four losses in a row,” he said. “It’s always a bit of a bumpy road. I don’t know if that has been seen as an excuse, but from the last six games we’ve played, it’s been five away.”

Meanwhile, Palace boss Oliver Glasner says that ahead of the trip to Merseyside, his side’s results are not a reflection of their performances.
“We’ve lost three of the last four games, but when I watch the performances, I think they’re maybe better than at the beginning of the season, where we drew or won games,” Glasner said.
“It’s now about staying calm, analysing and supporting the players. I see that our defensive shape works really well, our structure to create situations works really well.
"We created more set-plays I think than they had, or let's say the same amount – and then also, [it’s about] scoring from these situations.

“When you play the top teams of the world, let's say, you don't get a lot, and whatever you get, you have to take if you want to win. Let's say we were that clinical in the FA Cup final against City. Against Arsenal we were not, and that's why we lost.”
