Mikel Arteta’s side sit top of the Premier League while boasting a 100 per cent record in the Champions League.

However, a busy run of fixtures could see the Arsenal boss rotate his side for the visit of Fabian Hurzeler’s men as the focus turns back to the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal eased past Port Vale in the previous round and, with arguably his strongest squad since arriving at the club in 2019, Arteta will be confident that a change in personnel will not disrupt momentum.

Brighton head to the Emirates on the back of Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Despite the loss, there was plenty to be enthused about particularly in the second half as Brighton staged a second-half fightback when the game appeared to be done and dusted.

The Seagulls have been prolific in this season’s Carabao Cup having swept aside EFL opposition with ease.

Oxford and Barnsley were both hit for six without reply in the last two rounds with some goal of the season contenders amongst them.

Arteta is sweating on the fitness of William Saliba, Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori after the trio were forced off in Sunday's win over Palace.

Gabriel Martinelli was also seen limping at the final whistle.

Captain Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined while Bukayo Saka who shook off illness to feature against the Eagles could be rested against Brighton.

Arteta is likely to hand starts to four of his summer recruits including Piero Hincapie who was introduced late on against Palace following his return from injury.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera and Christian Norgaard are in line to start Wednesday's clash as are Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino and Max Dowman.

Brighton will once again be without injured trio Joel Veltman, Kaoru Mitoma and Brajan Gruda.

Arsenal vs Brighton: What has been said?

Despite key victories over Manchester United, Newcastle and Atletico Madrid this season, it was the Gunners’ narrow 1-0 victory over Palace on Sunday that pleased Arteta most.

“I'm really happy with this one,” Arteta said.

“I just said to the boys that it was probably the biggest victory that we had this season - the way I was feeling it today, it was about making another step.

“We’d played three teams that last season we lost points against and Palace was another one, and they are in a really good moment. I knew we had to be very patient and not get frustrated, because it was very difficult to open them up.

“They do that to every team, and the moment that you lose certain concentration and get frustrated, they start to open up and they are lethal in counter-attacks, in open spaces and on set pieces.

“So I'm very glad that the team showed that maturity, we found a way to score a brilliant goal through Ebs and keep another clean sheet.

“I think the mindset has been exceptional. The level of aggression that we're playing with, how we insist and how we keep going and going and going, we are ruthless at that. In the end, we're going to get rewarded; we have so much quality. We rely on our habits and when those are really, really high, it makes things very difficult for the opponent.”

Brighton boss Hurzeler gave his view on how to combat Arsenal’s potent threat from set-pieces ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

“You can’t defend them one-against-one, that’s the first thing.

“The second thing, I think it’s not only Gabriel [who provides a threat], it’s the movement they do together. I think they block very well for each other.

“The other side is that we are quite good at defending, so when we look at our defending record, statistics this season, we are quite good.

“We also try to build a set-piece culture, this needs time, this doesn’t come overnight. I think when we look at Arsenal, they’re one of the first teams in the league who had a set-piece coach and the work now on these topics for several months, for over several years, and you see now the results of all this work.”
