The New York Giants have a 2-6 record to start the season. This is the third straight season that the Giants have started out with a 2-6 record.

New York will probably be sellers once again at the NFL trade deadline. The biggest question is which players are the Giants going to trade? After the 2025 NFL season ends, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence will have two years remaining on his contract. He is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL, but Lawrence has not played well this season. Is there a chance that he could shockingly be traded at the NFL trade deadline?

Pro Football Focus writer Bradley Locker created 10 fairy tale trades ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. One of the trades involved the Giants superstar defensive tackle. Locker has the Giants trading Lawrence to the Baltimore Ravens. This would be a major surprise because the Ravens have a 2-5 record and who knows if they will be sellers or not at the NFL trade deadline.
Locker said,
“As part of one of the league’s most disruptive defensive lines, Lawrence has remained a stellar interior game-wrecker. His 83.1 PFF pass-rushing grade is third among qualified interior defenders. Also, Lawrence ranks as the NFL’s third-most-valuable defensive lineman over the last three years, per PFF’s Wins Above Replacement metric.
Part of the Ravens’ poor defensive start stems from significant injuries along their defensive interior, including to Nnamdi Madubuike and BroderickWashington. In their stead, Baltimore ranks 22nd in overall PFF grade and 25th in PFF run-defense grade at the position.
Now 2-6, the Giants’ flame of youthful energy has quickly extinguished, especially after an unfortunate ankle injury to Cam Skattebo. The team figures to be a seller at the deadline, but Lawrence feels too valuable to ship away. Yet if there were any ideal suitor, the Ravens — now the favorite to win the AFC North — would be near the top of the list.”
Lawrence is only 27 years old. It would be a major mistake for New York to trade him. They better be getting a kings ransom from the Ravens if they traded him. A lot of Giants fans would absolutely revolt if Lawrence was traded anyway.
This season, he only has 20 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and three pass deflections. He does get doubled team a lot. However, New York will probably trade other players on the roster before the NFL trade deadline. Players like Evan Neal, Deonte Banks, Jalin Hyatt, Kayvon Thibodeaux would potentially get traded more likely from the Giants than Lawrence would. He is still in the prime of his career and all he needs is a new defensive coordinator because Shane Bowen is ruining everyone on this defense.
