Joshua Guilavogui doesn’t have a bad word to say about Leeds United, and he wants everyone to know that.
The midfielder has heaped praise on his former club once again. The midfielder is currently a free agent after leaving Leeds in the summer. His contract was allowed to expire, with Leeds turning elsewhere for their return to the Premier League.
The 35-year-old had only moved to Elland Road on a free transfer in October last year. He was seen as a zero-cost option to bolster Daniel Farke’s squad.
He went on to play a bit part role at best, with 18 appearances across the campaign but just 216 minutes in total. Indeed, he only managed six minutes of football in total after February, most spending his time sat on the bench.
That was largely due to Leeds’ ongoing success. They secured a return to the Premier League with a title winning campaign in the Championship, narrowly beating Burnley to 1st place.
Those lack of minutes perhaps led to the decision to let Guilavogui go this summer. He, though, doesn’t have a bad word to say about the club.
“I’m very happy with my last season at Leeds, where we were able to achieve something historic by winning the championship at the last minute,” he said.
“We know that Leeds is a historic club that normally plays in the Premier League, but which has struggled to get back into the game for the past two years. I’m still living on cloud nine.
“I had a lot of opportunities this summer, but I haven’t found the right challenge yet. I’m keeping myself fit, waiting for something to happen.
“I’m not retired yet, no (smiles). That’s already good, my career is a waking dream, we’ll see if there’s a sequel or not.”
