Packers’ Christian Watson admits what everyone’s thinking about Jordan Love’s Week 8 performance

After several months of recovery from a devastating knee injury he suffered in the Green Bay Packers’ final regular season game in the 2024 NFL campaign, wide receiver Christian Watson made a triumphant return to action last Sunday.

Against Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, Watson managed to catch all four passes from quarterback Jordan Love and turned those receptions into 85 receiving yards. Only Green Bay tight end Tucker Kraft had more receiving yards in the game from either side than Watson, who is in his fourth season in the pros, as the Packers topped Pittsburgh, 35-25.

Watson proved to be a reliable weapon downfield for Love, who had a huge game himself versus Pittsburgh.

Love won his duel against Rodgers, who was looking to pull off a revenge game win over Green Bay.

With Love showing up at the top of his game, the Steelers failed to keep up with the Packers’ attack and were left absorbing their second loss in a row.

Love earned a ton of praise from his teammates after the game, including, of course, Watson.

“That’s monster stuff,” Watson said of Love’s performance (h/t Mike Spofford of Green Bay’s official website). “He really took command. He was definitely huge.”

Love expertly sliced through the Steelers’ pass defense, as he wound up with a total of 360 passing yards and three touchdowns and without throwing an interception. He found his target on 29 of his 37 throws and even made 20 straight pass completions during the contest.

The 5-1-1 Packers will look to keep it going in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field.
