This Chiefs Joshua Williams-Titans trade package is more genius than crazy

The Kansas City Chiefs will once again be hunting for immediate upgrades at the NFL trade deadline, as the lack of a truly dominant running game and the need for more defensive tackle reinforcements might take some of the sting out of this team's push for yet another Super Bowl birth.

Rather than just mortgaging future draft picks, the Chiefs might be wise to pursue a player-for-player swap. Why can't the Chiefs trade someone who is not going to be in their future plans for an expiring contract that can provide them with a tangible and immediate upgrade at a position of need?

The Tennessee Titans appear to be selling anything that isn't nailed down amid their putrid start to the season, but this new regime may be enticed by the idea of adding a younger player who could be extended well into the future. This could lead to Williams getting a fresh start elsewhere.

This Chiefs-Titans trade would send Joshua Williams to Tennessee

While some Titans fans might be wary about this trade due to the need to pay Williams and the fact that the L'Jarius Sneed deal has turned out to be a tremendous disappointment, former Chiefs executive Mike Borgonzi will likely not be deterred.

Williams has proven to be a quality cornerback at the professional level, but with the added depth in Kansas City starting to force him out of a prominent role, it seems like the Chiefs would be happy to consider some packages that could send him out of town.

Tennessee is fresh off detonating their secondary, trading starters Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Roger McCreary to the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams, respectively, in exchange for a few paltry Day 3 picks. Williams might be a piece that helps a better unit rise from the ashes of the old one.

With the defensive tackle room already hurting before the loss of top draft pick Omarr Norman-Lott, Joseph-Day can be a rock-solid veteran addition that can stabilize the back end of the depth chart without being a complete zero when rushing the passer.

Joseph-Day would perform much better alongside Chris Jones as opposed to trying his best to shine on the wretched Titans. It would be a shame to see Williams' Chiefs career end like this, but the Chiefs need to find a way to improve that defensive line as soon as possible.
