18-year-old Newcastle United wonderkid given green light to return to action for loan side…

**Trevan Sanusi is one of Newcastle United's youngsters who has already captured the imagination of Magpies fans after some impressive pre-season performances last year.**

The winger was given an opportunity to represent the first team in cup competition last season, but failed to really rise to the occasion.

Despite that, hopes remain high that the youngster will be a first-team quality player sooner rather than later.

In a bid to accelerate that process, the 18-year-old was loaned to Ligue 1 side Lorient in France, where an ankle injury has so far kept him out of contention.

Trevan Sanusi is nearing a return to action and could soon make his debut for Lorient

Sanusi has been back on Tyneside receiving treatment for his injury, but Lorient boss Oliver Pantaloni has told [Ouest-France](https://www.ouest-france.fr/sport/football/fc-lorient/fc-lorient-vers-un-retour-de-trevan-sanusi-dans-les-prochains-jours-2f4109c6-b0d1-11f0-a3b8-6cf5a651f4ac) that Newcastle have given the green light for him to return to France and work towards featuring for the Ligue 1 side.

> “We received news through his club.

> “Everything is fine. He should take a flight to join us on November 2 and be with us the following day. We’ll have to see what condition he’s in. But we hope to be able to get him back into the squad straight away. He’ll be able to play with us before the end of the year."

We really need to rethink Shola Ameobi's position at the club

-------------------------------------------------------------

This loan move looks like another Shola Ameobi special, given that Sanusi is a winger and Lorient don't play with wingers, meaning Sanusi is going to have to play out of position to stand a chance of getting game time.

Along with Antonio Cordero's disastrous loan to Westerlo in Belgium, these look to be another couple of black marks on Shola's record as loans manager.

Cordero was signed in the summer after Newcastle beat Real Madrid and Barcelona to his signature, the lad had been playing regularly for Malaga before his switch, and while they aren't in La Liga, the fact that the biggest clubs in La Liga were looking at him should give some indication of his talent, and yet, Shola opted to send him to a struggling team in the Belgian Pro League.

It may be time for Ross Wilson to start making some calls to find someone else to take over Shola's role because, clearly, the lad doesn't know what he's doing.
