Jay-Z has defended Bad Bunny following criticism around him performing at the Super Bowl halftime show next year.

Super Bowl LX is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8th, 2026, with the the Puerto Rican superstar serving as the halftime entertainment.

However, many right-wing figures and conservatives, including President Donald Trump, have revealed their disapproval over the 31-year-old headlining the event.

TMZ ran into Jay, who plays a key role in choosing the halftime performer, in New York City on October 27th and questioned him over the controversy. When asked to discuss Bad Bunny, he replied, “I don’t wanna talk about nothing.”

When the reporter asked why people are against the booking, he said, “They love him. Don’t let them fool you.”

Bad Bunny is one of the biggest artists in the world with over 81 million monthly Spotify listeners. His last four albums, El Último Tour del Mundo, Un Verano Sin Ti, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, and Debí Tirar Más Fotos, have topped the Billboard 200.

Trump is one of those who have criticised the Super Bowl decision. Speaking on Greg Kelly Reports, the president said, “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is.”

He added, “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment – I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Hov’s comments arrive shortly after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell defended Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance.

“He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world,” he said. “That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value.”
