Week 8 of the NFL Season is in the books. Here are the Week 9 quarterback rankings for fantasy football. This week, the quarterbacks on bye are Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, Justin Fields, and Dillon Gabriel. Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy, Brock Purdy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bryce Young are questionable this week with injuries.
Quarterback Rankings Week 9 Fantasy Football
Tier 1: The Big 4
Rank Player Opponent
1 Lamar Jackson* Miami Dolphins
2 Josh Allen Kansas City Chiefs
3 Patrick Mahomes Buffalo Bills
4 Jayden Daniels* Seattle Seahawks
This top tier of quarterbacks is the best of the best in fantasy football, with Jackson expecting to return this week, but Daniels is questionable:
Jackson was supposed to return to the Ravens in Week 8, but after a confusing practice report, he was ruled out for the game. However, he should be ready to go for the Thursday Night Football game against the Dolphins, who, before last week, have been terrible. As long as Jackson is close to 100%, he should have a big game in his return.
It is one of the best regular-season games of the season with Allen and the Bills taking on Mahomes and the Chiefs. Both quarterbacks are the top three options in fantasy football this week.
Tier 2: Low-End QB1s
Rank Player Opponent
5 Drake Maye Atlanta Falcons
6 Daniel Jones Pittsburgh Steelers
7 Justin Herbert Tennessee Titans
8 Jaxson Dart San Francisco 49ers
9 Caleb Williams Cincinnati Bengals
10 Jared Goff Minnesota Vikings
These guys are low-end QB1s, and I feel comfortable starting any of them as my QB1 this week:
Maye continues to be terrific, scoring over 26 fantasy points against one of the best defenses in the league. This was his sixth top ten fantasy finish in the last seven weeks. He gets a Falcons defense that just gave up four passing touchdowns to Tua Tagovailoa. Maye jumps into the top five of the quarterback rankings for fantasy football in Week 9.
Herbert has had two big weeks in a row, scoring over 25 fantasy points in each of them. He had a season-high 62 rushing yards last week and has at least 30 rushing yards in five of eight games. Herbert is in the top ten of the quarterback rankings against a bad Titans team.
The Cleveland Browns came into the week allowing the 2nd-least fantasy PPG to opposing QBs.

Tier 3: High-End QB2s
Rank Player Opponent
11 Dak Prescott Arizona Cardinals
12 Matthew Stafford New Orleans Saints
13 Joe Flacco Chicago Bears
14 Jordan Love Carolina Panthers
15 Kyler Murray* Dallas Cowboys
This tier consists of the high-end QB2s:
Prescott had his worst game of the season in the Cowboys loss to the Broncos. Denver is one of the best defenses in the league, and they were able to shut down the Cowboys passing attack. This snapped a streak of four straight top ten finishes for Prescott. Expect him to get back on track against the Cardinals on Monday Night Football.
Flacco played lights out once again, although the Bengals lost by one point to the Jets. Flacco has two straight top-six fantasy finishes. In his three games with Cincinnati, he has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. Flacco is a viable starter once again in Week 9.
Tier 4: Superflex Options Only
Rank Player Opponent
16 Sam Darnold Washington Commanders
17 Bo Nix Houston Texans
18 Trevor Lawrence Las Vegas Raiders
19 Aaron Rodgers Indianapolis Colts
20 C.J. Stroud Denver Broncos
These players are options only in very deep leagues or SuperFlex leagues:
Nix has back-to-back weeks with four total touchdowns, leading the Broncos to a 6-2 record. However, they have a very difficult matchup against the Texans in Week 9, so temper expectations.
