Tottenham Hotspur will be paying a visit to St James’ Park tomorrow as they face Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Last time the pair encountered each other in the League Cup was back in 2014 at White Hart Lane, where Spurs took an emphatic 4-0 win sending them to the semi-finals of the competition.
Spurs have also not been beaten by the Magpies in the EFL Cup since 1976.
Thomas Frank will be vying for a similar result tomorrow night, and reinforced in the pre-match press conference his wish for the north London club to perform in all four competitions this season.

Both side’s form so far
Tottenham would be wise to expect Newcastle to be a threat, provided when they faced each other back in the 2024/25 season the Magpies won both encounters with a 2-1 score line home and away.
Regarding their League Cup performance, the Magpies have entered the competition on higher ground, being the holders of last season’s trophy – so they will be in a bid to retain the title.
However, recently **Tottenham**’s form has been impressive, having not lost a match away from home since Frank began his tenure at the club, and losing only one out of their last five matches.
Two draws have slightly dampened this effect, with *the **Lilywhite*s last competition fixture against AS Monaco in the Champions League providing little action, culminating in a 0-0 result.
However, the Carabao Cup has proved to be successful so far for Spurs, with their opening match of the campaign against Doncaster Rovers resulting in a 3-0 win at home.
Additionally, on Sunday, Spurs became the first club to claim victory at **Everton**’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Micky van de Ven scoring two before Pape Sarr solidified the 3-0 win.

**Eddie Howe**’s Newcastle side have had a positive run of their own, picking up four wins out of their last five performances, and only one loss.
They opened their third round campaign with a 4-1 win over Bradford City, also at home, and in the Premier League, took a 2-1 victory over Fulham.
So, both sides are in good stead heading into this cup clash.
Who could be playing?
Tottenham are still reeling from a series of injuries, with nine players out at the moment.
James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Kota Takai, and Radu Dragusin are all unavailable – making **Frank**’s squad selection increasingly difficult.
Christian Romero picked up an ailment whilst warming up to face Aston Villa, so is not expected to be available – Destiny Udogie is close to a return but it is not likely it will be in time for tomorrow night.
Frank suggested a rotation from the squad who played at the weekend, with van de Ven possibly being rested, as well as Joao Palinha and Xavi Simons potentially being sidelined for this one – and if the last Cup game is anything to go by, Antonin Kinsky should feature in goal.
Newcastle will be without key players of their own, including Lewis Hall, Yoane Wissa, Harrison Ashby, and Tino Livramento – whilst Sven Botman received a knock in the **Magpies**’ last match on Saturday, so his appearance is unknown.
Kick-off will be at 8PM on Wednesday 29th October.
