Eddie Howe hailed the attitude of his players after their 2-1 victory against **Fulham**on Saturday.
Newcastle United were eager to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to **Brighton**at the Amex Stadium from the previous matchday and start to more consistently reward their competitive displays. They took the lead with a first half goal from Jacob Murphy, but the Cottagers responded and earned an equaliser with a close range header from Sasa Lukic. Fears were growing around St. James’ Park.
In the end, the substitutes shifted momentum. Sandro Tonali stood out in the midfield while William Osula went on a counter that paved the way to the winner from Bruno Guimaraes. Howe is happy with the depth of his squad and even more proud of the attitude that all his players are exhibiting.
“I always think when it an interesting one when you talk about subs changing the game and sort of the manager gets credit. For me, it's always about the players. If you're bringing good players on and they come on with good attitudes, there's a very good chance they will help your team performance. If you're bringing good players on with bad attitudes that it won't help your performance at all.
“So it's all about how the players enter the pitch, what their frame of mind is. So great to see our subs come on with really good energy knowing the seriousness of the situation we're in, how important that moment is in our season. They elevated our performance and got us over the line. So I was delighted.
“Another one: I think Jacob Ramsey is doing well. I think he's in a good place. I think he'll have benefited from the couple of outings that he's had recently. The big thing for him at the moment is being physically at his best. If he is, then his technical qualities will shine.”
