Michael Ballack made the move from Bayern Munich to Chelsea back in 2006, joining the Blues on a free transfer.
However, the former Chelsea midfielder could be about to prevent a current Bayern player from making the same switch next year.
The Blues are already quite stacked in attack, especially on the wings. For example, they have Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto for the right flank, while Geovany Quenda is set to join Enzo Maresca’s squad next summer.
Yet that has not stopped them from looking at other attackers, including one at the Allianz Arena.

Michael Ballack supporting Lennart Karl’s decision to remain at Bayern Munich
Last week, it was reported that Chelsea have their eyes on Lennart Karl, who has impressed at Bayern this season.
In six Bundesliga appearances, the 17-year-old has managed to score a goal and provide one assist.
However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Karl wants to stay at Bayern, and Ballack, who advises the winger, is on board with his plan.
🚨💥 EXCL DETAILS | Lennart #Karl’s contract will automatically be extended until 2029 on his 18th birthday, 22 February 2026, and will be converted into a professional contract, including an adjustment to his salary. His current deal is valid until 2028.

It means that the former Germany international is not doing his former club any favours amid their interest in him.
For as much talent as he has, though, Chelsea do not have to worry about missing out on him.
Karl’s stats compared to Estevao’s this season are quite similar. Maresca will cope fine with just the Brazilian and Neto.

Lennart Karl shouldn’t even be a priority for Chelsea
Karl is not the only young player the Blues are said to be tracking right now.
It has also been claimed that Chelsea are monitoring Kerim Alajbegovic of Red Bull Salzburg. But these teenage attackers are not what the club need.
What Maresca could really do with is experience, especially at the back. His side have not looked convincing there at all this season, losing 2-1 to Sunderland last time out.
Ultimately, an experienced centre-half and top goalkeeper probably need to be Chelsea’s priority in the new year, not Karl.
